DIVIDO has a very peculiar yet beguiling appearance. For starters, its dial seemingly floats inside the case. This is no optical illusion, there is physical space between the case and the edges of the dial, which is only fixed by four tiny screws on the corners, enabling light to flood in from all sides. Another special feature is that the date window displays the date preceding and following the current “D-day” with a little arrow pointing to the current date, giving the watch a truly unique look. DIVIDO is powered with KT7002, Minase’s hand-finished automatic movement.
Sallaz (sarazu) polish and pure craftsmanship
DIVIDO bracelets are uniquely constructed. No exterior screws or pins are visible when the watch is worn thanks to the use of tiny screws on the underside of each bracelet link. The bracelets are further enhanced by the great Sallaz polishing technique. A technique of polishing the steel by hand, piece after piece requiring an impressive level of skills and dexterity.
Suiboku-ga – traditional technique for unique dials
The inspiration for Minase dials can be found in the the principle of Suiboku-ga: “Ink and water painting”. The Suiboku-ga painter modifies the ink dilution, the brush position, the depth of the stroke and line thickness, sharpness and level of grey. Essentially, Minase has replaced the ink with a special lacquer, but held true to the same principle, using a brush. This is what gives the dial such impressive depth of reflection, shadow play, and constantly changing depending on the light hitting the dial.
MORE Concept
MORE (Minase Original Rebuilding Equation) is a patented structure that was developed in order to make watches that can be treasured for more than 100 years. Inspired by Japanese wooden puzzles, this design allows Minase watchmakers to assemble and disassemble exterior parts of the watch, such as the case and bracelet, as many times as they need to refit or repair the watch.
